About Speedsoccer

Speedsoccer is a specially designed program to improve players all round game. In order to maximise players ability they first must be taught proper leg and arm mechanics, then we can proceed by improving the players speed and agility.

There is only one way to improve a players running speed and that is resistance training, which is being generally ignored by coaches and is one of the most important parts of a players game (Quicker players have a definite competitive edge) To improve a players agility and speed we will introduce Ladders and Hurdles into the training program, These will also improve the players spatial awareness, develop faster feet, better overall balance, co-ordination, quick reaction and locomotive ability.
A 3KG medicine ball is also used to improve Strength, balance and core.

As coaches we should invest quality time into our players by exposing them to the best quality coaching that is available because unfortunately the window of opportunity is a small one, (maximum benefit from this method of training is attained between the ages of 8 and 14)

Now as a coach, ask yourself do you use any of the above equipment and methods? And if so, do you use them properly? If the answer is yes I would like to know because unfortunately this training is really only used at elite level i.e. Munster Rugby and the English Soccer academies.
And lets not forget we will be coaching the players ball mastery and giving them the key factors on different parts of their game i.e. passing and receiving, shielding, heading, possession grids, defending and attacking drills and finishing up with a game and Q&A session
